For some, decorating may come easy, but for others who love, appreciate, and desire a beautiful space, creating the perfect room may be difficult. We get it. Because aesthetics greatly impact our emotional wellbeing, we think it’s important that living spaces be attractive and engaging. That’s why we’ve put together 6 of our favorite kitchen décor tips so that anyone can create a space where they feel comfortable. Let’s get to it!

Consider a Runner

For those with hardwood or tile floors in their kitchen, a runner is a fantastic way to add color and warmth to the space. Colorful vintage rugs or durable jute rugs are great options for kitchens because they wear well and keep stains hidden. Plus, a rug can be a huge relief to tired feet after a long day of cooking (you’ll thank us next Thanksgiving)!

Swap Out the Hardware

This is such a fantastic décor tip! It’s relatively inexpensive and extremely easy to do. Simply replace cabinet pulls and knobs with hardware more akin to your style, such as steel, brass, or antique knobs. You’ll be completely surprised by what a difference it can make in the look and feel of your kitchen.

Replace Soap Dispensers

We’ve all seen those plastic dish soap bottles and hand soap bottles cluttering up kitchen sinks, but what if we told you there’s a better way? By simply replacing those bottles with beautiful glass or ceramic dispensers, you can completely transform that area of the kitchen–an affordable tip that goes a long way! (Bonus tip: Other items you can easily replace include salt and pepper shakers, tea kettles, and hand towels.)

Add a Backsplash

While this tip is a bit more pricey than the others, it’s a great way to add character and depth to your kitchen. And there are endless backsplash options, from subway to Moroccan tiles to peel and stick wood and wallpaper. It’s the perfect way to really showcase your creativity and add some joy to the room.

Don’t Forget the Plants

It’s no secret that live plants help purify the air and discourage anxiety and depression, but that’s not all they can do! They can also feed us (if we decide to plant herbs or veggies), and let’s face it--they are simply gorgeous. So yes, don’t forget to include plants in your décor!

Get Personal (And Have Fun!)

Don’t be afraid to make the space yours. Whether that means framing some cherished family recipes, your child’s art, or simply stacking your refrigerator with magnets that make you laugh. Adding your own personal touches to your kitchen is an expression of your personality that will make friends and family smile, too.
